About

I created Dog Training Avenue as a way for dog owners and their pets to grow together. It's for people that want to build an amazing relationship with their pets and get as close to them as possible.

Training a dog is one of the best things you can do for them and I hope you find the information at this site to be very helpful in doing that. You'll also learn some great information relating to their health and happiness.

I did my best to provide the very best information but you should consult with a veterinarian before doing anything recommended on this site.

Are You Planning on Getting a Puppy?

If you are thinking about getting a puppy, or you have just got one, then it might be helpful to know which order you should check out the pages on this site. They are arranged in such a way that it should be intuitive, but here is a map if you want it to be easier to understand:

Have a look at Dog Whispering first. It will give you an idea about how to communicate with dogs. Also, keeping an eye on your dog's health, giving them the right food, and grooming them daily are important so you should familiarize yourself with those things.

1. Puppy Training > House Training - These two steps are the first things you need to do when you get a little puppy. Puppy training helps you to lay the ground work for all the training you will be doing and house training will protect your carpet from accidents!

2. Crate Training - The next thing you want to get your dog used to is their special place. If you plan on keeping them inside the house, then they need to be crate trained. If you want them to stay outside, then you will have to kennel train them (both processes are pretty similar). The sooner that you crate train them the sooner they will be able to have their safe haven where they feel like they can relax.

3. Dog Walking > Dog Obedience - It's important to get your puppy used to the idea of a leash as soon as possible. Since it is so crucial to their health to be able to get walked each day, showing them how to walk right should be the first thing that you do. After introducing them to the leash, you can start working on obedience commands like sit, stay, and lie down.

4. Optional - Clicker Training - Using a clicker to make training your dog easier is something that a lot of professional trainers do. Clickers are cheap and they can be very effective. You don't have to use them to train your dog though.

5. Behavior Problems > Dog Tricks - Before moving onto dog tricks, you should make sure to work out any behavior problems. This includes things like barking, chewing, biting, or digging, which are most likely a result of separation anxiety. Once your dog has good, solid habits formed, you are free to start working with them on tricks.

And that's how you should use Dog Training Avenue!

Hopefully, you'll get a lot out of the information on this site. It will teach you everything you need to know about training your dog and building your relationship with them.
